SOLO EXHIBITION
SOLO EXHIBITION – Unsung Art x Shift Espresso Bar: Caitlin Mkhasibe at the Waterway House, Cape Town. Curated by Inge Wessels.
Seven of the twenty-eight artworks planned for this exhibition sold to a business in Cape Town the day before the exhibition opening. Inge and I needed to put together the rest of my collection that Unsung Art had in storage for their online store for this show. These are the artworks that we chose in time for the exhibition at the Waterway House. A majority of these pieces have also sold via Unsung Art after this exhibition. The common theme for these artworks are depictions of moments in nature or fictional hybrids of natural and outer space elements. The style is a mesh of abstraction and illustration with muted tones and mixed media on 300gsm Hahnemühle paper. All of these artworks are original pieces and most of the artworks are 42cm x 29.7cm. There are smaller sizes on paper (21.cm x 14.8cm), as well as hand-painted, upcycled fabric that were later framed and sold to a buyer in Germany as a series. Hand-painted wearable art was available at this exhibition too. At this point, after graduating art school, I was exploring a non- Fine Art style for a period of time.
